Sumatran Tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae)

Less than 500 tigers exist in the wild on the Indonesian Island of Sumatra.  It is the smallest of the tigers and can weigh up to 265 pounds. It has more of a mane around the face and narrower stripes than other tigers.  It has webbing between its toes making it a good swimmer.  The tiger eats tapir, boars, deer, fish and birds.  It continues to be hunted with snares and traps and all body parts are used in Chinese medicine.
